Holiday Shopping Guide: The Darling

13 days till Christmas. In theory, most of the shopping should be done, but reality may be much different. In any case, here is the first of a few mini gift guides I have put together to help you find that final perfect gift for one of the many people on your list.

***

First up, the Darling.
The Darling is the girl who doesn't mind overdressing if it means she get's to wear her favorite dress. Wants ever part of her life, down to the smallest detail, to be beautiful. Bows, feathers, and lace are a prerequisite.

It's Here!

THEODORA VINTAGE!

Today, after two months of work, Sasha and I are ready to open our store!

It's taken a lot of hard work and late nights, but every moment was worth it. We started out with 17 items and are already down to 15, so check it out as soon as you can. Depending on hoe quickly things go, there will be an update of new pieces in a week or so.

Here's a little preview of what is new in store:

Etsy Wishlist

When it comes to looking for original pieces, Etsy has always been one of my absolute favorite places to search. The amount of talented creators gathered in one place always leaves me coming away with an extensive wish list of items. What's better than a one of a kind piece that helps an up and coming artist? Here are some of my faves:

Silver and Black Ear Cuff Wrap with Silver Cross Charm by Dear Bearcat

Crystal Quartz Bullet and Amazonite Brass Chain Necklace

Sheer Genius

In case you haven't noticed, sheer clothing is catching on in a major way. To me, this trend was borrowed from the "underwear as outer wear" phase and has morphed into its own unique trend. Lacy sheer undergarments are nothing new, but the great influx of sheer shirts, layers, cutouts, and even pants and shoes are something to notice. The biggest debate? What to wear under.

With so many choices, from demure and feminine to tough and racy, how/will you be rocking sheer this summer?

Things...

...I wish I had snagged in the Topshop sale if they weren't out of stock and I wasn't broke. However, my heartbreak is soothed by the fact that this bad boy should be arriving on my doorstep tomorrow.

I can't wait!

Also, I would like to give a major shout out and thanks to Meg from The Girl With The Red Umbrella for featuring me in an interview! :)

P.S. I am only 9 followers away from 100 and only 8 days away for my one year blog birthday. 100 followers would definitely be a swell gift. ;)

I've got my mind set on you!

Here in Southern California, Spring comes early every year like clockwork. The abundance of shining sun and chirping birds has got my mind going on a Spring/Summer '10 Want List. Truthfully, I'm much more of a fall style girl at heart, but this year it is my mission to give these warmer months a chance. What better than some (pretend) internet shopping to get started?? :)

Chunky Almost-Wedges
I am in love with this Jeffrey Campbell pair. The heel is deceptive, it looks only mid-height but it is actually 4.5"!

A classic/versatile trench
(rag and bone)

High Waisted Denim Cut-Offs
(Current/Elliott)

A versatile mid sized bag
(Forever 21)

Knee high socks, also to be worn rolled/scrunched to ankle length
navy, grey, taupe, etc
(American Apparel)

Glasses
Because sadly my prescriptive pair are nowhere near as cute and I just don't get along with sunglasses.
(Urban Outfitters)

P.S. I'm saving up for a DSLR camera, so if you have one I would love any kind of recommendation/suggestion/hint! Hit up the comments pretty please :)

Yes Please

Collage made by me :)
If I had more time I'd tag each item but with the massive pile of homework waiting for me I'm lucky to sneak this in.

Addiction

I have to say my leather riding boots were my most worn pair of shoes this last year. I wore them all but one day when I went to NYC and even paired them with cutoffs in the middle of summer. I'm tired of them being my only go to pair, so I've decided to save up and hopefully add to my little family.

Unique LA

This past weekend two of my friends and I traveled up to the fashion district to attend the Unique LA Holiday Show, a showcase for indie designers. SO much fun and so many unique booths, plus I got a ton of Christmas shopping done. We got stopped and photographed by some lovely ladies covering street style for Japanese fashion magazine JJ, which was a super fun surprise.
On the way back we went down Santee Alley and I was able to score an awesome skirt to complete my Lady Gaga concert outfit. :)

Sonia Rykiel pour H&M

From the moment I first heard about the Sonia Rykiel and H&M collaboration I got veryyy excited. Now seeing the images, it is more wonderful than I could even imagine. On top of that, this is one of the most reasonably priced of the H&M designer collabs with most of the pieces running at $10-$35 for underwear and $30-$80 for clothing. It opens this weekend, Saturday Dec. 5th to be exact, in 1500 stores nationwide.
Now, I have never been to the opening of one of these collections but I've definitely seen pictures and heard about the lines. My sister agreed to take me Saturday but I have no idea what to expect! If you have any advice PLEASE leave a comment with your recommendations. It's my mission to get my hands on a few pieces!

Most Wonderful Time of the Year

We have a new computer!! I'm surprisingly loving Windows 7, but the best part is being able to use it for longer then 10 minutes without having it crash. Ah the simple things in life. :P

Anyways, I've been spending sometime lately going through various holiday collections and putting together a few little wish lists to help my family out. My birthday (Dec. 15th) and Christmas ARE right around the corner.

Some of my favorites:black one shoulder dress-a.ok

Grey Antics Lump of Coal Sweater-Urban Outfitters

This list is a bit unrealistic....but hey I'm not one to limit my dreams. ;)
What do YOU wishing for?

Free People: End of Summer

I got a Free People catalog in the mail a week ago and really liked the new pieces they had featured. I finally got on the website and found even MORE great new stuff, as well as discovering that they reformatted the website. There's a comment feature which is one of my favorite things because then you can know directly from people who have actually bought the pieces. Anyways, here are my absolute favorites:

1. Floral Romper
2. We the Free Athletic Tulip Skirt
3. Bow Driver Leather Glove
4. Woven Solid Romper
5. Outlaw Boot Straps
6. FP Stud Super Skinny Jean
7. We the Free Studded Mini Dress

Let's get some shoes.

The shoes I'm dreaming of always seem to fall into one of two categories...

Those I can afford/reasonably save up for:
(hoping to save up and buy these for fall)

Seychelles Vamp Bootie

J. Aldridge By Sea of Shoes Lace-Up Skimmer

Kimichi Blue Foldover Bootie

And those that exist only as a figment of my magical dream wardrobe:

Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony Multi Buckle Wedge Booties
(something about these shoes makes me want to save up every single penny until I can afford them)

Mui Mui Whipstitch Patent Pumps
Mui Mui Studded Leather Ankle Boots

What shoes will you be spending your hard earned summer job money on? :P

If I had a million dollars

I would spend part of it on an entire drawer of Pamela Love jewelry. I love and would without a doubt wear every piece in her collections, however, my ultimate favorite is the super rad eagle claw bracelet. Everything is delicate without looking fragile, and it represents nature without looking cutesy or kitschy. Not only is she an amazing artist but she has awesome style too. That seems to go hand in hand quite often.

P.S. I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow! I'm pretty sure I'm dyeng it darker brown and getting bangs. I'll post pictures if I like it :P
