Get in my closet.

Rodarte x Opening Ceremony Fall 2011

I am proud to declare my love and mild obsession over this collection. It strikes a perfect balance between everything I look for in clothes...feminine without being too sweet, dark but elegant, romantic, with nods to some nostalgic era you can't quite pinpoint...you get the picture.
Here is just a glimpse of the 40 image lookbook which you can view here.

Please excuse me while I go start collecting pennies from the couch cushions to foster my dream of affording this.

Black Swan

I know I am not alone in saying I am seriously excited to the movie Black Swan. There are so many reasons for it to be amazing...

1) Natalie Portman is awesome in basically anything she does.
2) Both Natalie and Mina Kunis trained for months in order to do almost all of their own dancing in the film.
3)Costumes by Rodarte. That fact alone is enough.
4) It's dark. No bubblegum princess-y ballerinas here.

Not to mention, the posters alone and total pieces of art.

If you haven't seen the preview yet, watch it here.

If you have seen the movie, what did you think!?
I'm hoping it will be released in more theaters over the next few weeks, otherwise I will be planning a special day trip to LA just to see it.

The Story

Button Shirt: Grandpa's
Dress: Truly Madly Deeply
Belt: F21
Tights: Rodarte for Target
Leggings: F21
Shoes: Deena and Ozzy

This outfit was worn last Friday night to a Brandi Carlile concert. She has an insane voice and it is a million times better live than recorded. Anyways, my favorite thing about this outfit is that I got a chance to wear my Grandpa's shirt. I never really got the chance to know him because he passed away when I was only 3, but there's something so special about wearing his clothes. I know he'd get a kick out of it. These pictures were taken when I got home and crashed on the floor and refused to stand up. You can't really see the cool detail that the button down is longer than the dress, but it looked quite interesting standing.

I have been feeling quite confused and conflicted and downright worn out lately. Probably a combination of overwork, overthink, and the stupid "spring forward" time change...anyways, what's your favorite pick me up when you feel down in the dumps?

Rodarte for all!

I seem to have collaborations on the brain lately, but with new images and scans popping up here and there I can't help but to get excited! Rodarte for Target is next on the radar, due to launch Decemeber 20th at Target stores nationwide. So far, I think this collection looks like it has greater potential than the recent Anna Sui pieces, which I got very excited for but were a bit of a let down in person.

From what I've seen so far I've got my eye on a bow belt or two and the black tulle dress. However, with a total of 55 pieces coming out there are sure to be quite a few hits. :)
