NYFW Wrap Up

So, after a long night of reading Beowulf (oh joy) I was able to sit down and get together collages of my last few favorite collections from New York Fashion Week. I know that in the weeks to come, when I finally get through every single collection I'll find more things I'm crazy about, but for now I am content.

Favorite #1-Isaac Mizrahi

Must track down those star earrings.

Favortie #2-threeasfourI know these two favorites seem pretty polar opposites, but now that I compare them side by side the shapes and color schemes are slightly similar. Obviously I'm drawn to steely light blue, black and white.

Naeem KhanToo pretty not to mention. That pearl dress is perfection.

MarchesaI literally sat at my computer saying wow out loud...like the fashion obsessed nerd that I am.

And yes, I did love Marc by Marc, but he always gets so much press immediately after the shows, so I'm saving a post just for him for a later date. :P

Fashion Week Favorite-Derek Lam

This is one of my favorite collections of FW. I'm in love with all of the patterns and how they are mixed, especially the stars and polka dots. Come next spring I can't wait to rock bright florals as opposed to lighter shades and keeping skirts short but with volume.

Fashion Week Favorites-J. Mendel

"Specialness, preciousness, and value—with a little something to make you dream." -Gilles Mendel

This collection goes right to the heart of all things soft and pretty. It's nice to see some contrast, the short, structured suit dresses mixed with long, flowing dresses topped off by the prettiest hair. Sometimes designers get so caught up making things edgy and stylized that they forget how beautiful clothes can be.

Fashion Week Favorites-ADAM

Basically, my entire reason for featuring ADAM by Adam Lippes are the feathered skirts and dress. The pull off the look without conjuring up images of big bird or Vegas showgirls, instead looking modern. I love how everything is just a little slouchy and relaxed, making the clothes look like something you could actually live in, not just stand around and look pretty.

Fashion Week Favorites-Vena Cava

Anyone who can make me appreciate bright orange deserves a nod. Normally I would shy away from anything of that color(must be my weird aversion to citrus). I really like how fishnet was used in place of where lace would be more predictable. Bodycon dresses with itty bitty cutouts and seaming look cool and sleek without crossing the line to less favorable *cough*slutty*cough* territory. And that dress third from the bottoms confirms safety pins have so upgraded from accidentally ripped garments and rebellious teenagers.

Fashion Week Favorites-Charlotte Ronson

Spring '10 FW is here and I can't believe it because that means my trip to New York was exactly 6 months ago. It feels like a lifetime away and I'm counting down the days till I get the opportunity to go back. Anyways, I've been glued to Style.com for the last day and a half, picking out favorite collections and imagining what it would be like to have those pieces in my wardrobe. Hey, a girl can dream right??
First up:

Charlotte Ronson

I really liked that this collection combined some of my favorite trends from spring and fall...sheer layers, loose shorts and soft pastel colors contrasted with studs, structured shoulders, and layered jackets. The sheer scrunched leggings reminded me of tulle. One of my favorite pieces was the laced up bralette which also appeared in black in a few other looks throughout the show.
